Research shows that burglers are less likely to try to get into a 'Secure Home'. Secured by a 'qualified' alarm company, burglers are more likely to move onto a home that has fewer security precautions.
There are four areas that one can assess when seeing how secure their home is; The Exterior, Doors, Windows and Valuables. Following is a series of questions that will aid in letting you see what a burgler looks for:
The Exterior

Is there a secure fence to your back yard, or is it just an easy latch?
In your garage/shed is there tools that are easy to access?
Is there strong locks on your garage/shed doors?
Do you have a clearly visable security system?
Does your home have good exterior lighting?
Do you have a gazebo, pergola or a trellis that make it easy to go reach your roof?
Doors

Are the frames of the doors in good condition?
Do your doors have deadbolts that comply with security standards?
Is there glass panels on your doors?
Do the french doors and patio doors have locks on both the top and bottom?
Is your mailbox slot a good distance from your door lock?
Widows
Are your windows all up with safety standards?
Do all your windows have locks on them, and do you always use them?
Are your window frames in good condition?
Are your windows double glazed?

Valuables
When you are away, do you have timers on your lights to make it appears you are home?
